ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. --- Red Baron's Barn's Suances, the 8-5 morning line favorite in Sunday's $200,000 American Derby (G2) at Arlington International Racecourse, was injured in the barn area Saturday afternoon and will not contest the race.

After Suances schooled in the Arlington paddock with the field for Saturday's first race and returned to Barn 1A, he kicked the barn door and suffered a laceration in the right hind leg.

"Suances was shipped to the Illinois Equine Clinic in Naperville where he will be further examined," said state veterinarian Dr. Robert Gowen.

Suances, a Group 1 stakes winner in France, captured the Prix Jean Prat at Chantilly in his last start on June 4.
