JOCKEY CLUB WEB SITE RE-DESIGNED
The Jockey Club announced today that it has re-designed its web site, located at http://home.jockeyclub.com, to incorporate easier navigation and educational information concerning the transition from blood-typing to DNA-typing for parentage verification.
"Our overriding goal was to create an efficient site where users can quickly find the information they are looking for and get even easier access to Jockey Club Interactive," said Jockey Club executive vice president and executive director, Gary Carpenter. "I think we have succeeded in doing so while augmenting information content to include an area where owners and breeders can learn more about the ongoing switch to DNA-typing and how it will affect them."
In support of the full implementation of DNA-typing beginning with the foal crop of 2001, users can click on the "DNA Parentage Testing" icon to learn about the scientific and financial benefits of the switch to DNA-typing, as well as view illustrated step-by-step instructions for pulling a DNA sample.
Visitors to the site can also sign up for and access both Jockey Club InteractiveTM and the industry's innovative new Internet service, equineline.com. More than 9,000 owners and breeders use Jockey Club InteractiveTM, a free service of the Registry, to submit foal registration requirements and other documents electronically. equineline.com, a division of The Jockey Club Information Systems, Inc., is an Internet-based equine portfolio service which lets owners and breeders manage their equine investments more effectively through real-time information updates.
Other features of the site include a "Statistics and Resources" section which puts users one click away from a wealth of industry information, including the Fact Book, Live Foal and Report of Mares Bred statistics, the Round Table transcript, the Experimental Free Handicap and equineline.com.
